Charlotte Beatrix Chair
This boudoir chair was another great find in a bric-a-brac shop. The shape of the chair suggested the subject for the upholstery. A visual game came to mind – the upholstery would be covered with fabric depicting a person sitting in the chair. The formality of the chair suggested a formal portrait. This portrait was taken from the open access pages of the Rijksmuseum’s website. The sitter is Charlotte Beatrix Strick van Linschoten, painted in 1755 by Mattheus Verheyden. As a fun twist she got her tattoos from other works in the Rijks.
