Elephant Chair

This lovely wingback belonged to a friend of the artist who was decluttering her house. It had belonged to her parents and probably dates back to the 1930s or 40s  as it resembles some Danish Modern wingbacks from that period, particlularly the work of Alfred Christensen. The wings of these chairs suggested elephants’ ears. This was an idea Pinchuck had played with ten years previously when he designed a couple of elephant-inspired boudoir chairs.
