Waterfowl Chair

In a dim corner of a Gordon's Bay bric-a-brac shop, between old cutlery and washing machines, stood a worn-out chair. Its rattan backing was torn, the upholstery had rotted through, and dark varnish covered the woodwork. Yet something about it caught the eye.

The restoration started with stripping away the old upholstery and sticky coating. After sanding the wood clean, three coats of Danish Oil brought out a natural warmth. The chair needed the right fabric to match its character. The upholsterer suggested removing the rattan backrest entirely, since modern cane wouldn't match the original quality.
